Dubsado

★ 4.3 / 5 Best for Freelancers & agencies who want full automation control From $35/mo

More customization and deeper automation than HoneyBook — but only on the Premier plan, and setup is complex enough that people build careers around it.

Pros

  • + Most customizable workflow automation in its class — the Flows node-based builder maps any client journey visually
  • + 21-day free trial with full Premier access and no credit card — the most generous trial in this category
  • + Multi-brand management: run multiple business identities under one login for $10/month each
  • + Stripe payments with no added Dubsado markup — 2.9% + $0.30 cards, 0.8% (capped at $5) ACH
  • + 3.0 update adds a Kanban board, keyboard shortcuts, detached inbox, and time tracking

Cons

  • − Starter plan has no workflows or scheduling — it's a digital filing cabinet at $35/month; Premier or nothing
  • − Setup complexity is legendary — people specialize in Dubsado setup as a freelance career
  • − Extra team fees: $25/month for users 4–10, $45/month for 11–20, plus $10/month per brand
  • − No Gantt charts, task dependencies, or milestone tracking — project management features are thin
  • − Time tracking is Premier-only and entries can't be edited once applied to an invoice

What Is Dubsado?

Dubsado is a client relationship management platform built for service-based businesses and creatives. It bundles proposals, contracts, invoicing, scheduling, client portals, questionnaires, and workflow automation into one platform — with a level of customization few tools in its class can match.

The platform went through a major overhaul with Dubsado 3.0 (released November 2025), introducing a node-based visual workflow builder called Flows (previously Workflows), a Kanban board, keyboard shortcuts, a detached inbox, and a global time tracker on the Premier plan. These updates address longstanding complaints about a dated interface and unintuitive workflow setup.

Where Dubsado stands out is automation depth. Once set up, it can run your entire client intake process on autopilot — sending emails, triggering questionnaires, generating invoices, and moving leads through a pipeline based on the actions clients take.

Dubsado Pricing (2026)

Dubsado updated its pricing in December 2025. Two plans only — and the Starter is only worth it if you genuinely don’t need automation yet.

PlanMonthlyAnnualWhat you get
Starter$35/mo$335/yrUnlimited clients and projects, invoicing, forms, contracts, portals — no workflows or scheduling
Premier (Recommended)$55/mo$525/yrFull automation (Flows), scheduling, Zapier, time tracking, reporting, multiple users

Add-on costs: $10/month per additional brand, $25/month for users 4–10, $45/month for users 11–20. Factor these in before your total-cost calculation.

Our Verdict

Dubsado is the right choice if you’re an experienced service business owner who wants maximum automation and control over every step of the client journey — and you’re willing to invest real time in setup. The 3.0 update makes it meaningfully better: the Flows builder is now genuinely visual, and the overall UX has improved. The Premier plan at $525/year is one of the best values in client CRM if you use automation heavily. But go in with eyes open: if you skip setup or default to the Starter plan, you’ll pay more than competitors for less. Take the 21-day free trial and build a real workflow before committing.
